VINCENT B. GWALTNEY POSEYVILLE, INDIANA Vincent Byron Gwaltney, 82, of Poseyville, Indiana, born March 2, 1940, to Millard and Pauline (Putler) Gwaltney near Elberfeld, Indiana, passed away, Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at his home near Poseyville, Indiana with his family by his side. He graduated from Elberfeld High School and received a basketball scholarship to the University of Evansville. As an Ace #20, he was proud to be a member of the team that won the NCAA Championship in 1960. After graduation he began his teaching career in the EVSC schools that continued for the next 28 years. Although teaching was his chosen career, he was a farmer at heart and believed greatly in the stewardship of the land. He was a member of the Keck-Gonnerman Antique Machinery Club and enjoyed showing his tractor at shows and going on tractor drives and also a member of the “Sons of the American Revolution”. With his love of genealogy, he had traced his ancestors as far back as the 1600’s. He married Carol Kreilein on June 6, 1964 in Jasper, Indiana. They recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary and enjoyed going on cruises, camping and traveling with their 4 daughters in tow. Surviving are his wife: Carol (Kreilein) Gwaltney; daughters: Jamie Kaiser (Kevin), Aimee Martin (Darin), Emilie Phillips (Terry) and Carrie Elpers (Brad); 15 grandchildren: Jacob Kaiser (Julia), Shelby Johnson (Nick), Megan Campbell (Clay), Daniel Hipp (Megan), Amy Hurley (Chance), Rob Gesselman (Jamie), Sean Gesselman (Sydney), Chris Phillips (Shyann), Carley, Braden & Makenzie Elpers, Austin, Garrett, Kolin & Kolton Martin along with 13 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother: Clenneth Gwaltney and a grandchild: Chandler Martin. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Poseyville, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery near Poseyville, Indiana. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m., Monday, June 20, 2022, at the Werry Funeral Home in Poseyville, Indiana.
