He graduated from Smith School and Wadesville High School, both here in Posey County, Indiana. Then he earned a BSEE degree from Evansville College. He loved his life, worked hard and had few vices. He had previous brushes with death, but had always stared the Grimm Reaper down and kept going. He had occasional confrontations in his life, but he always lived out his philosophy “Never Look for Trouble-Never Run”. He liked airplanes, belonged to a Flying Club in Wisconsin, enjoyed fast cars (Corvettes), burly dogs, sleek horses, rodeos, country roads and Honky Tonk country music. He earned a Pilot’s License at age 25, bought an airplane at 29 and he loved to fly the rest of his days. Flying was travel, enjoyment, and stress relief. Bill logged over 4,000 hours of flight time. He liked to fly with the throttle wide open and tried to live his life the same way. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, Warbirds of America, Experimental Aircraft Association, Mile High Club, Wyoming Wild Horse Foundation and the National Rifle Association. Bill’s motto was: “Under Radar-Over Trees-Go Fast”. He is now “GONE FLYING”.
