VIRGINIA ANDRY NEW HARMONY, INDIANA Virginia "Ginny" Andry, whose heart was as expansive as the natural landscapes she adored, passed away serenely on Mother’s Day - a poignant homage to her profound connection to family, community, and the natural world. Born in White County, Illinois to Arnold and Fannie Logan, Ginny's early years were shaped by the pastoral beauty of her surroundings, instilling a lifelong passion for the environment that would later permeate every aspect of her life. From White County to Griffin, and ultimately settling in New Harmony, Ginny wove her love of nature into the fabric of her daily existence. It was in New Harmony that she met her lifelong partner, Raymond, and together they created a life rich with artistic expression and community involvement. They crafted a home that was a reflection of their shared values - open, welcoming, and always a hub of creativity and conversation. It was in this home they welcomed their twin girls, Brenda and Nancy and their son, Terry. Ginny's commitment to her community was evident in her tireless efforts to capture and preserve its beauty and history. Her photographs of New Harmony’s landscapes and daily life did more than document; they celebrated the ordinary and underscored the unique charm of her beloved town. Each image, often paired with a thoughtful title, served as a love letter to the place she was proud to call home. Her talents as a seamstress, painter, and weaver were channels through which she expressed her deep reverence for the natural world. The clothes she crafted, the paintings she created, and the weavings she designed were not merely art - they were expressions of her philosophy that beauty and sustainability could coexist harmoniously. Ginny's artistic legacy was complemented by her creation of distinctive black and white Christmas cards, each featuring a signature red cardinal - a nod to both her environmental ethos and a tender remembrance of her husband, Raymond, after nearly fifty years together. Virginia’s departure on Mother’s Day speaks volumes of her life’s rhythm, harmonized with the cycles of nature and the heartbeat of her family. She leaves behind not just a family but a community enriched and beautified by her presence. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren inherit not only her love but also her commitment to enhancing the world around them. As we reflect on Ginny’s life, we celebrate a spirit truly in tune with the essence of her surroundings. She loved Jesus, her family, birds, sunrises, art, and quiet moments. She is, and will continue to be... missed. Her family included, and includes: Raymond Andry (husband), Arnold and Fannie Logan (parents), Myrtle and Judge Williams (loved like parents), Brenda and Nancy ("the twins" and daughters), and Terry Andry (their son). Siblings include John Logan, Martha Irma Clifford, Mary Lena Vaupel, Melvin Logan, and Mitchell Logan. Grandchildren and spouses include Kristin and Eric Milbrandt, Ally Zwahlen-Harvey and James Harvey, Mike and Laura Benet, Andrew and Megan Ramirez, Barry Zwahlen, and Manuel Ramirez. Fourteen Great Grandchildren include Sarah Milbrandt, Caden Benet, Ben Milbrandt, Nolan Benet, Rachel Milbrandt, Hannah Milbrandt, Avery Hoffman, Rees Hoffman, Liam Fisher-Harvey, Savannah Benet, Griffin Benet, Grace Zwahlen-Harvey, Colin Ramirez, Isabella Ramirez. Gravesite service at Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Griffin, Indiana at 10 a.m. on June 14, 2024. Reception to follow at the Rapp-Owen Granary, 413 W Granary Street, New Harmony, Indiana.
